Do Kickstarter Campaigns Really Work?

Nowadays, projects can be funded by having other people donate small or large amounts of money to help with financing. Kickstarter and GoFundMe are the two main sites that come to mind that you can create this type of money funding campaign. I do believe that Kickstarter campaigns works and I have one recent example to share. David Vargas is a film director that has always wanted to direct his own feature film. Love and Hostages is the name of the movie he has created. He started a Kickstarter campaign with the help of his wife, friends, co-workers, and helpers. The campaign was successful because he utilized all aspects of the campaign. The movie’s goal to start shooting was $39,450. The team used social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more to stay connected with potential “hostages” or people who donated towards the film. There was also a personal email newsletter sent out to all family and friends of David Vargas. The emails were sent out once a day to create new donors daily. The campaign page had a full mini teaser video shot by the director himself. The page also featured many different levels of donations. For $100 you could be an extra in the movie.  Pledging $5,000 or more, you would receive a producer credit during the rolling credits at the end of the movie. All levels kept you involved or gave you a piece of the movie. By donating you were helping a friend, colleague, or family member reach their dreams. I applaud the whole team and David on creating such a successful campaign.  No matter where you went online you were asked to at least check out the campaign page. The team did a great job of advertising the campaign without becoming too much. I cannot wait to see the final production.
